Glen Garioch uses brand new North American white oak barrels for full maturation for its Virgin Oak launch. The use of new barrels for whiskey is becoming a trend and the big, bold flavors coming out of this release certainly show it. Aroma: oatmeal with a little brown sugar, pine and vanilla aroma. Flavor: A great explosion of chocolate, with chewy fudge and sugar coated caramels, followed by surprisingly subtle oak. Spices and cloves. Complex and tasty. Finish: beautiful long finish with vanilla and oak spices.
